The Blue Heron Chapter of the Sumi-e Society of America, Inc., is a non-profit educational 

organization founded in 1988 to:

~ foster and encourage an appreciation of East Asian brush painting 

techniques through workshops, lectures and exhibitions

~ to serve as a cultural bridge between East and West, and 

~ furnish information to all persons who wish to learn about this art.

Membership is open to all painters and non-painters interested in this art.

The Blue Heron Chapter membership extends throughout the Hampton Roads area of Southeastern Virginia 

to include Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth and surrounding areas.
